Burned Out Bosses Can Also Benefit from Corporate Team Building
Boss burnout is real. Managers often struggle with their own personal stress, including family, health and economic issues, while at the same time working to build an engaging workplace culture; recruiting and retaining employees; and seeing that the team’s work gets accomplished successfully. That’s a big burden! Corporate team building can help ease it.
So, while the Great Resignation has resulted in large numbers of employees leaving their jobs, bosses aren’t immune either. A recent Deloitte survey revealed that nearly 70% of the C-suite are seriously considering quitting for a job that better supports their well-being. If bosses are frazzled enough to consider quitting, then it is affecting not only their own job performance but their ability to motivate and lead their team.
Perhaps more importantly though, the Deloitte survey found that while 91% of the bosses thought they were caring leaders, only 56% of workers felt their bosses cared about their well-being. That’s a serious disconnect. One way to start relating to their employees better is to engage in a corporate team building event where managers aren’t in their usual role.
Culinary Team Building Improves the Employee Experience
Managers are human too and a great way to show that is at a Team Building with Taste corporate team building experience. Here, the boss is a member of the team just like everyone else. Each team does have a leader, but it’s probably not the boss.
One of our favorite quotes from an actual culinary team building event went like this:
Admin to CEO: “Jim, I need that onion chopped in a small dice and I need it now!”
CEO to Admin: “Yes Ma’am.”
We like this because in the heat of the moment, with the clock running down, two people at opposite ends of the management spectrum are totally comfortable with each other.
Kitchens are nurturing places and food brings out the best in people. Culinary team building events are a fantastic way to bring a team together, have a fun experience in totally different roles and demonstrate that bosses are just like everybody else. Bosses can be “just a team member” and communicate on a casual level. The camaraderie and team bonding experienced at the event carries over into the workplace.
At Team Building with Taste, teams work together to prepare a dish while watching the time clock and addressing any speed bumps along the way. When it’s over, they have delicious food to eat and a sense of accomplishment. Likewise, businesses rely on teamwork. In fact, you really cannot have a thriving, sustainable business without great teams. Team members who enjoy one another and understand each other communicate more effectively and help boost productivity. Coming together on a different level with our corporate team building fosters a new camaraderie that they take back to the office. Plus, bosses will have related on a different level with employees.
